Boxpark Croydon, Chilango – Mexican Street Food review

After all, the nice weather appeared in Croydon yesterday. Therefore, we decided have a walk and have something to eat in Boxpark in Croydon. I made my mind while walking, I wanted burrito. And living with Mexican husband, I could not go wrong with my choice. Chilango.

Mexico has one of the most extensive street food cultures! Mexican food was named by UNESCOย as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. You can see that street food in Mexico is part of restaurants servings, sometimes slightly different, sometimes not. And I have to say, that big influence is as well abroad. I cannot say how is it in United Stated as I have never been there, but it is commonly known that Mexican – style street food can be easily found there and I believe, modified Mexican cuisine well know as Tex-Mex as well. And Europe? I used to live in couple of European countries and to be honest, find a good Mexican restaurant or Mexican – style street food is not that easy and that common. Western Europe is slowly catching up with United Stated, however the Eastern Europe – it is a novelty.

When you enter Chilango, you are warmly welcomed and you can feel authentic Mexican offer. As a refreshment I ordered aqua fresca limonada as a classic street drink. And it was delicious. My husband picked beer – Czech Staropramen (not bought in Chilango ๐Ÿ™‚ ). Chilango in Croydon offers customers flexibility of offered food where the customers have a choice to pick and create what they decided to eat. However, you can still pick from their menu or either be creative.

As I mentioned at the beginning, I chose burrito of my own creation. My burrito had –ย carnitas, guacamole, pico de gallo, white rice, black beans, cream, cheese, mild red salsa and lettuce.ย My husband went forย tacos – one of carnitas with green salsa, guacamole, cheese and lime and second one taco of grilled chicken, green salsa, cheese, guacamole and lime.

Chilango offers authentic fresh andย quality Mexican – style cuisine.ย And how did we like it? We definitely did. If you find a way to Boxpark in Croydon (which is by the way directly in the train station) and want to have good Mexican – style burrito or tacos, Chilango is good call!

Buen provecho!
