Yesterday, I posted recipe for 2 ingredients creamy potato soup and today I continue with 2 ingredients recipe, again from my grandma. Many of you know that back in the past there was a socialism regime in former Czechoslovakia, and even before two big wars… Many times it happened that you could not simply get even basic ingredients over there. I even remember when I was little, we had oranges and bananas only for Christmas… 🙂 Or you had to wait for meat hours to get something…
So today, I would like to share one of the most simple recipes in my cookbook – pasta with cabbage. It may sound strange, however I honestly like it and a lot 🙂
What do you need:
500 g pasta (whichever you like)
1 green cabbage
salt and pepper
This recipe is very simple. In a big pot cook your pasta – I prefer smaller pieces of pasta for this dish. Do not be afraid to put sufficient amount of salt while boiling it. When preparing pasta, take a bigger pan, put vegetable oil and heat it up. In the mean time, cut cabbage into small pieces and add them into the pan (I took bigger pan, Wok pan for example). Fry the cabbage until soft and turns brownish. You can cover the pan with lid and from time to time stir it to make sure it will not burn. At the end, add salt and pepper according to your taste buds. And when pasta and cabbage are ready, add pasta into the pan and mix it properly. Your dish is ready!
It is very simple and quick dish, nothing special. However, delicious and always reminds me that there are countries or political regimes where food is missing. I am grateful that my parents and family taught me how to appreciate everything what is on my plate 🙂
