Pork shoulder slowly baked with apples, onions and sage

I know, winter has already arrived. However, it still seems more like autumn is here… So πŸ™‚ I have picked to prepare pork shoulder and autumn fruits combined together. The result was delicious!

What do you need:Β 

8 pieces of pork (pork shoulder for example)

4 apples (better are slightly acidic)

6 smaller or 4 bigger red onions

whole garlic

1 tbsp of fresh sage or 1 tsp of dry sage

salt and pepper

3 tbsp of favourite mustard

olive oil

Firstly, wash the apples, peel onions and cut both int a bigger pieces. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. In the baking tray, mix oil chopped apples and onions with salt and pepper, sage and add not peeled garlic cloves and cover with pork pieces. Do not forget to sprinkle salt and pepper to both side of meat. Spread mustard on the top side of each piece of meat. Cover the baking tray with aluminium foil of lid and bake in the oven for 1.5 hours. Afterwards, remove the lid or aluminium foil, add a cup of water and baked next 1.5 hour until soft and tender. You can serve with rice or pumpkin gnocchi or just with fresh piece of bread πŸ™‚ With the same way, you can bake for example duck or any other fatty meat!
