Good morning from sunny Mexico π
It is so strange for me to have Christmas time without snow and freezing temperatures. But not bad π Have you tried Mexican torta, my friends? You may question if it is cake or what. It is sandwich. But I have to say, very good one and slightly different than you can find in Europe for example. Those sandwiches, tortas – mainly named by what they contain, are huge and can be eaten cold, hot, grilled or toasted, something similar like Cuban sandwich.
You can use for preparation whatever you desire – avocados, chilli peppers, tomatoes, onions, eggs and different types of meat. Aaaand… those sandwiches are common as a street food. I have found really interesting article about tortas and tacos and when you ask Mexican what they prefer π Really nice and funny!
What’s better:Β tortasΒ or tacos?
For any Mexican, this question causes emotional turmoil, and your answer could ignite a number of heated discussions. But for food writer Pedro Reyes, author ofΒ Β‘AcΓ‘ las tortas!, the answer is quite simple: a quality torta is better than a good taco, and the stories behind this iconic sandwich run even deeper.
I have asked already in my family and discussion has appeared. Please, have a look and read it! π

Ah, you miss beautiful winter weather here – this evening it started snowing. My dad (who lives in the west of Austria) told me today that there are 70 cm snow. But I suppose this Mexican sandwich is consolation π Enjoy the sun!
